ROTOSOUND Solo Bass 55 Pressure Wound Strings

Another inventive first from Rotosound’s founder, James How, the Solo Bass 55s debuted in 1977 and offers a tone that is quite different from a normal round-wound string.

The secret lies with the patented linea pressure-wound finish applied to these stainless steel bass strings. Once the string is wound a rolling technique is applied under pressure which displaces the crown of each winding, producing a ‘flatness’ that eliminates finger noise and reduces fret wear and friction, thus allowing for more rapid finger movement (also, it makes the strings perfect for fretless basses).

The linea effect accentuates the middle frequencies, resulting in a sound that’s perfect for studio work when tackling quieter musical passages and – as the name suggests – they’re absolutely great for soloing.
