DIMARZIO Fast Track 2 Bridge Pickup Shootout

So, is a swap for a DiMarzio DP182 Fast Track 2 pickup in your Fender American Standard guitar really an upgrade? ‘Fred’ on YouTube decided to find out in this head to head shootout.

In the beginning, you get to hear a simple picked – and then strummed – chord, moving through the various pickup configurations on the 5-way switch. By the time he gets to the 4th and 5th position, you can hear the difference between the stock bridge pickup and the DiMarzio. After that, the focus on entirely on the bridge pickup, and Fred plays some riffs with overdrive, demonstrating both the standard pickup and the DiMarzio.

One of his findings is that it is much easier to get harmonics with the DP182 in the guitar. Fred doesn’t pick an official winner, but we definitely find that the DP182 is indeed an upgrade, delivering a much more full-bodied tone and a very distinct sound compared to the stock pickup. But what do you think? Check out the shootout and let us know!
